Glory & Consequence 6:01 11/02/2000 11/02/2000 - Wharton Performing Arts Theatre, MSU: East Lansing, MI Shane Johnson I was listening to my show from 11/2/2000 in East Lansing and I am 99% sure that this is where Glory was recorded. Great version and the part where he says "I'd rather you be lonely....I'm not scared of dying" his voice cracks into that passionate weep that he does on Bimbo's "Please Bleed."

Ground On Down 5:40 02/05/2000 Stanley Performing Arts Center:
Utica, NY *
Bill When I listened to that WBCN radio show, I think Ben stated that Ground On Down was from the Ithaca show. I would think that this would be considered as one of the best shows from that run by Ben, and he said that they narrowed down all of the shows from 2000 to a top 50-70 and then picked the songs from that. It was cool because I guess after each show, if the show sounded great to Ben, he would get the master and put a check on it to say that they would have to go back and listen to it. Looking back I'm almost positive that he said, when asked about ground on down "I think that song was from upstate NY, at Cornell University". The reason I recall this is that I was at both Utica and Ithaca and I remember thinking right after the WBCN convo how great a show the Ithaca show was.
Thomas Spahr

Ground On Down isn't from 2/6/2000 Ithica, NY...I listen to the boot and they aren't the same. Ben says "or sadly, sadly, sadly say goodbye" on LFM while he doesn't during the Ithica boot. Ground is from the fall tour, as is almost everything else from the first disc.

I now have a hunch that version of Ground may have been played somewhere between 9/23/2000 and 9/30/2000. Unfortunately, I don't have any shows from this period. There are sources for some of those...so perhaps we can dig up something...

Yes, yes I know Ben said upstate NY, but he travels a bit...I know if I traveled half as much as him, I would probably get confused.

Welcome To The Cruel World 5:53 11/06/2000 Oscar Mayer Theatre, Madison Civic Center: Madison, WI * Greg Wendt According to the setlist archive he only played this song 8 times in 2000:

02/05/2000 - Stanley Performing Arts Center: Utica, NY (don't have this one)
02/19/2000 - Uptown Theatre: Kansas City, MO (it's not this one)
11/04/2000 - Aragon Ballroom: Chicago, IL (it's not this one)
11/05/2000 - Roy Wilkins Auditorium, RiverCentre: St. Paul, MN (it's not this one)
11/06/2000 - Oscar Mayer Theatre, Madison Civic Center: Madison, WI (don't
have this one, but i'm pretty sure this must be it, the shows around it
sound very similar)
11/12/2000 - The Ritz: Raleigh, NC (it's not this one)
12/09/2000 - 4th & B: San Diego, CA (it's not this one)
12/26/2000 - Wheeler Opera House: Aspen, CO (it can't be this one, solo show)

so, the only ones i haven't confirmed are 2/5/2000 and 11/6/2000, my best guess
is the 11/6 show, but i don't have it. so hope this helps.
Forgiven 9:27 11/15/2000 11/15/2000 - Civic Center: Atlanta, GA ~* *>Alooides<* *~ I was cruising through this Audio Satelite thing and downloaded a few songs
from the 11-15-00 show, including Forgiven, and I'm happy to say that this
is exactly where the LFM version was recorded from. It matches up
perfectly.
Faded / Whole Lotta Love 10:45 11/19/2000 North Charleston Performing Arts Center:
Charleston, SC
Bill While listening to a radio interview with Ben on WBCN, Ben mentioned "...one of the Carolina shows". After checking the Setlist Archive, this date makes the most sense.
Zake CONFIRMED: Faded/Whole Lotta love is from 11/19/2000. At five this morning (Saturday April 13) I heard the live from mars version on this two cd Audience Recording i got.

Roses From My Friends 5:36
Power Of The Gospel 6:50 ??/??/?? ???? ubik i've been listening in detail to this one. i can't say much but i wanted to let you know some. after ben's second thank you, you hear something very typical in the crowd. it's a distinct and fast lelelelelelele that's a typical enthousiam expressing sound made by northern african immigrants in france and the rest of europe. i hear that a lot on french Audience Recordings and never heard it on an american show. also the clapping, especially during the chorus, is very loud and enthusiastic, typical for the french shows. so to me, this is from the spring tour 2000 either France, Switzerland or Italy.

these are the shows
03/24/2000 - Le Zenith: Caen, France
03/25/2000 - Zenith Arena: Lille, France
03/27/2000 - Hall Rhenus: Strasbourg, France
03/28/2000 - Palais Des Sport: Lyon, France
03/29/2000 - Summum Alpexpo: Grenoble, France
03/31/2000 - Le Dome: Marseille, France
04/03/2000 - Palasport: Modena, Italy
04/14/2000 - Theatre im National: Bern, Switzerland
04/15/2000 - Geneva Arena: Geneva, Switzerland
04/18/2000 - Palais Omnisports de Paris Bercy: Paris, France

i would say 04/15/2000 has "the drugs" and if there aren't 2 tracks from one show, we can forget that one. i've gone in detail through 04/18/2000 paris and that's not the one. there are no 2 thanks you's and the crowd in paris recognises the song easily 2 seconds earlier then the crowd on LFM... that leaves 8 potential winners to me. of these 8 shows, i have only 2 - marseille and modena - i'll check those tonight and i'll let you know about them. that's it, not much, but to me it's one out of those 8. if you also consider that the LFM track has an intro, you should be able to also sort out 03/28/2000 and 04/14/2000 cos they have no intro according to the setlist archive. but on the other hand, the setlist archive is wrong too for 04/18/2000 that is written there w/o intro although it clearly has one on the audience recording. so i'd exclude that and stick to the 8 out of which one should be the winner.

it's definitely not 04/03/2000 mondena. there's no thanks after the song, or only one as where on live from mars there are 2 comin one shortly after the other and in mondena the crowd recognises the song earlier. marseille was a little tougher. but in the end of the song in marseille, Ben sings it's the power of the gospel, inside of you and inside of me, the poooow, the mighty mighty power of the gospel on LFM he sings it's the power of the gospel, inside of you and inside of me, the poooow, the mighty power of the gospel -- only one mighty on LFM for 2 in marseille. ok, that'it it for the shows i have. that leaves 6 shows

03/24/2000 - Le Zenith: Caen, France
03/25/2000 - Zenith Arena: Lille, France
03/27/2000 - Hall Rhenus: Strasbourg, France
03/28/2000 - Palais Des Sport: Lyon, France
03/29/2000 - Summum Alpexpo: Grenoble, France
04/14/2000 - Theatre im National: Bern, Switzerland

and one of those is CAEN pointed out by François. so it might be this one but it seems pretty hard to say just on a memory. Because the differences between 2 tracks played in 3 weeks time is often very small, like thomas said. i was in Strasbourg 03/27/2000, one of those and, w/o the Audience Recording, can by no way tell if it's from that show

Markus Mitterhofer After listening to an audience recording, we can confirm that it is definitely not 04/14/2000 - Theatre im National: Bern, Switzerland. That leaves us with these remaining shows:

03/24/2000 - Le Zenith: Caen, France
03/25/2000 - Zenith Arena: Lille, France
03/27/2000 - Hall Rhenus: Strasbourg, France
03/28/2000 - Palais Des Sport: Lyon, France
03/29/2000 - Summum Alpexpo: Grenoble, France

Thomas Spahr I have his 3/17/2000 performance, it sounds nothing like LFM + it doesn't have that "never coming down" part at the end...he played the drugs twice between then and Aspen. 4/15/2000 and the show after 3/17/2000. Ben usually doesn't change his performance that much immediately...so best guess is 4/15/2000.
ubik i just checked what thomas said with my copy of 4.15.00 geneva, switzerland. i agree. some things that made me agree:
- the audience recognises the song just at the same moment
- in the line "waiting to drown" "drown" somehow falls down, don't know how to explain that.
- last verse "face again" is sung in a very specific way, like if Ben runs out of breathe in fa-ce a-gain. just the same then in geneva.
i am almost sure this must be it. 3.17 barcelona has a whole different end.

Beloved One 3:48 07/17/2000 Sonic Recording Studios: Philadelphia, PA Nancy I'm not totally sure, but I believe that "Beloved One" was recorded at a radio show put on by Y100, Radio Philadephia @ 100.3 fm, at one of their "Sonic Sessions", July 17, 2000. I was there, and I remember people clapping in rhythm at the beginning before Ben started singing and stopped once they realized the song wasn't a hand-clapper. The crowd sounds smaller and contained in a small room compared to the other acoustic numbers. I could be wrong...
Number Three 2:31 06/11/2000 Festival Hall:

Thomas Spahr I don't have this boot, but it isn't Aspen and it isn't 3/23/2000 (which I do have), so it's got to be this one.

Walk Away 4:36 3/27/2000 Hall Rhenus: Strasbourg, France * Joe I have a friend who was in (Strasbourg for) this concert & he's sure that it's the same
Jah Work "Walk Away" is definitely NOT from Strasbourg 03/27/2000.
I have the Audience Recording, and both versions are clearly different.
